Microsoft will no longer provide security updates for Windows 7 or Windows 8 and 8.1 after the monthly patches are released on Tuesday 10th January 2023.
Microsoft officially ended support for Windows 7 in January 2020 but customers were still able to get support through the Extended Security Update (ESU) program.
Support for Windows 8 and 8.1 officially ends this month and Microsoft do not intend to offer an ESU program for either of these operating systems. Therefore the only options available are to upgrade to Windows 10 or Windows 11.
Also note that Google Chrome doesn’t intend to provide updates for Windows 7/8/8.1 beyond the current version – Version 109. Microsoft Edge which is based on Chrome will also no longer receive updates.
Now is the time to upgrade to Windows 10 or Windows 11 to ensure your PC continues to be protected.
If you need support with this please get in touch.
